Your Monologue Audition Questions Answered

What is a Monologue?

For our purposes, a monologue is a 5-7 minute story that details a specific mothering experience you’ve had.  An example can be a specific time when you overcame an obstacle, a story about your relationship with someone, a story about something that happened to you.  Listen to the videos below to hear stories from past shows.

What About Auditions?

All moms are welcomed to attend the show.  We encourage mothers of the African Diaspora and mothers-of-color to participate in the show.  For the 2023 showcase, we are sourcing moms from Pittsburgh and within 4-6 hours of Pittsburgh such as Erie, Philadelphia, the DMV and surrounding areas, Detroit, Ohio, New Jersey & NYC.  Auditions will take place in Pittsburgh and virtually for moms from outside of Pittsburgh.

How do I Audition?

We recommend all potential storyteller attend an info session first.  After the info session, you can submit a virtual audition.  If you missed the info session, you can watch it . 

What Kind of Stories?

We welcome ALL stories about the Black female experience.  From adoption to abortion to co-parenting to birthing and miscarriage.  We want a diverse array of stories from the Black mothering collective.  You do not need to be a mom to audition.  We value stories from caregivers no matter how you came to care.
